I've learned a lot, thanks guys. Taking her in tomorrow for the following bolt-ons: Magnaflow exhaust Headers (not MAC) Cat backs Subframe connectors Bushings (subframe, control arm, differential mount) 4:10 gears (daily driver, can't go higher) I think I'll do the CAI and shocks myself (at least I'll try!) Oh, and dyno before all these mods |

4.30 is not too much gear for a 4V. These engines really shine from 5000 to 6500 and love to rev. They are somewhat torque enemic and need the high rpms to make power. I have a buddy with 4.56s in his Mach. The car is pretty much a dedicated track car but he does drive it to the track and not trailer it.
There is not gong to be that much difference in rpms at 70 between the 4.10s and 4.30s. You will be happy with either one though. Good luck on the mods. Let us know how it goes.

I got a price from a local shop on a gear install, they said around 1400
. I guess it was due to the IRS

The quote I just got for the following:
subframe connectors (custom) ($150) IRS subframe poly bushings ($200) Plate on IRS to stop wheel hop (?) Magnaflow catbacks w/3.5" tips ($520) 4:10 Ford gears ($199) SCT tuner ($250) Installation on everything ($400) Total: around $1,800 with taxes. She's in the shop as we speak...pick her up next Saturday. MAC LT headers and o/r H pipes will come later, another $700 or $800. OMG, did I just go and do that??? I must have lost my mind...I could have had lipo with that much money. |
