modding my CAI

ok so i want to get a new air filter, but have a couple Q's. my current CAI goes out to above the whel well or w/e outside of the engine compartment. this new air filter im looking at is a nice looking one and wont fit into the space where the old one is, so i wanna cut my existing CAI and make the air filter inside facing the front directly behind my passenger side headlight. heat-wise will it be fine to do this? i wasnt sure if the heat from the engine would make a difference

your fenderwell set up will make more power.

your only going to lose 1-3 hp doing that.

all i have to say about the new air filter is WOW! i bought my car in january and never payed any attention to it(not too smart ><) well when i pulled this one outta my fenderwell it was literally caked with dirt and shit.. after this new filter i really feel like im driving a new car. it pulls through all RPMs better and quicker response, not to mention the sound is even quite noticeable. the engine has more of a pop to it than a rumble :-)

all from an air filter! im stoked! it actually looks pretty sweet too, ill ahve to take a pic

From a couple of shops and a few friends that putting about a 9" long circular filter inside the engine bay, attaching it right to the MAF, shortening the tube directly behin the MAF a little bit, and having a heat shield will make just a little bit more power than a fender mount. Now I don't have a dyno to prove it but alot of them say they feel it am I'm going to do it as well.

i have the c&l maf and inlet tube. it is a hell of a lot better than the inner fender set up i had before. after retuning the car, the n/a tune pulled to 6100rpm.
