i bought myself a beautiful convetible automatic gt and i was wondering if any one on here as every done a swap to the five speed or the t-56 in the cobra

i havent done it myself, i bought it 5spd, i was going to go with a t56 but it would cost too much imo. $2000 for the tranny, new clutch, flywheel, and drive shaft.
and with the 5 spd just get a t45 and it will mount right in i think.

Congrats on the GT, and welcome to the site. Like ES said the t45 will be the easiest, but the t56 will drop in, too. It will require a t56 bellhousing, 6 speed shifter, crossmember, and possibly modification of your drive shaft. The t56, t3550 and tremec tko's are popular upgrades to the weaker t45. They are more expensive for that reason.
