drivers side window regulator removal?

I have to thake the window regulator out of the drivers side door this weekend and fix it. The 1/2 moon piece with the teeth broke off the assembly. I found it in the bottom of my dam door. I looked at it and the welds that hold it in place broke, so I am going to tack weld it back on. It this assembly easy to remove? and then replace?.. Anyone have any pointers before I do it on Sunday?

I`m about to start that project myself the same thing happened to me, my dad and I tried to get it off the other day but we are going to have to make a bracket to hold the arms together because they are under so much tension that it is very dangerous to remove, its pretty straight forward to get the window off, drilling the rivets is a pain but not terrible. When you take the two guides off for the regulator arms make sure you have someone or something to hold the arms because they will swing straight up, I think i`m going to try to get it off on Sunday so i`ll let you know what we make for the bracket to hold the arms maybe that can help you out, oh and when you put the window back on if you don't want to rivet it back on we used two small nuts and bolts i cant remember the exact size right now but i`ll let you know they hold great and are a lot easier to get off.

Ok....The dam regulator won round 1 but Im not giving in yet!!!
I took off door pannel no prob, removed switch pannel for the electronics.
Then I started undoing the bolts for the regulator, got them all out and nothing was loose, So I then went and drilled out the rivits that hold the window frame to the regulator...NO PROB... took 5 minn... Bye the way 1/4 drill bit works great... Removed the bar and its god dam spring loaded like a MF.... While trying to hold the arms and push the bolts therw the door skin was not happening... When they do go threw the dam thing is going to spring open and probably take a few of my fingers with it. So after a hour of fu--ing with it I gave it the win for the day....
So does any one have anything for me... I wont let it win next time... Ill break out the plasma cutter...Cut the hole inside of the door off!!!!

Yea that thing is a huge pain, i`m hopefully about to go try some in a little while but yea be really careful with that thing cause it can actually take your arm off because of the amount or tension on it....there is a way to take the tension off, my dad thinks he might have something i`ll make sure to take my camera over and let you know if we get it out safely. I`ll let you know asap if it works or not and what we do....i don't have a clue what he has planned.
oh and if you have a Haynes manual read the warning on the regulator arms...it almost makes you not wanna mess with it.....almost...but not quite.
