New Engine...Sky is the limit

OK Guys...Been debating what to do with my car power-wise for the last year or so...I have the money for a good safe nitrous set-up with tune 100 shot. But I absolutely LOVE the idea of 400 HP all motor. My car is a daily driver so it needs to be streetable.

Please don't give me the "why waste money on N/A when you can slap a sc on it and call it a day?" speech.

I want to know where I can get a crate engine that can pump out that kind of power or close to it. I don't care if I have to swap out wiring harnesses and engine mounts etc. Please someone give me a straight answer where I can get an engine like this that I can use for my Daily Driver. This has to be possible! I remember seeing a link to a forged 5.4 4V somewhere in these forums but I lost the link.

One more thing....there really is no price limit. I'm a patient dude and I'll just save up. Please HELP ME OUT!

all motor 400hp is hard to hit, and to make it a dd makes it even harder. first off is to make $$$ no issue, it will take most of the best parts on the market. it would take in the neighborhood of: stroker kit (big bore preferable), have the crank knife edged, high compression w/ steep valve reliefs (11.5:1-12.5:1), lightened flywheel, fully balanced rotating assembly, 42cc p&p heads w/ enlarged valves, custom grind high lift cam, adjustable cam gears, intake manifold (bullit, trickflow, p51), coils, ignition system (msd, plasma booster), maf, cai, fuel rails, 36lb injectors, fuel pump, accufab t/b, accufab plenum (if applicable), electric water pump, udp's, header back exhaust (jba, slp, bassani), and one hell of a tune. that should put you close to 400hp and about $8-9k. if you can get gas that is over 93, then it would make it a little easier of a dd. this is just a rough figure, not 100% accurate. just the things i could come up with right now.

If you want to be smart, drop in a 355 chevy motor and have all the power you can stand. I am sure it would make some people throw up too- which would be exciting to watch.

where can you find a 351 motor that will allow my 2001 motor to pass inspection and be a daily driver?

You will not pass emissions with a 350 RWHP modular motor let alone a 400 RWHP!

That is a mystery lol. Just the tuning of the car i'm guessing... The way the engine is set up and i'm guessing, just like a stock H-pipe on a Mustang GT, it has 4 to 6 catalytic converters

nba1342 is right... a bigger displacement will = more power... thats not alway the case tho... i mean look at these god damn nissans and toyotas and what not... they have 260 hp from the factory... and their power to weight is so much better than a stock 99-04 gt. Really its just the setup of the engine and the computer, what it limits and what it doesnt, how many valves per cylinder, how many cams, the compression, and everything plays into factor... a corvette engine is a highly tuned 7.0L ls7 V8... they've spent so much time and money manufacturing those engines and it pays off... as for emissions, cats upon cats
