thinking about intake swap

2 friends of mine are about to get terminators, and another is thinking about trading his 97 cobra for one too. one of the guys has a 00 gt that will be getting traded in and i am wanting to wheel and deal on a couple parts. i am interested in his 11 inch clutch set up and it has the typhoon intake. it is the polished version, the fitment is junk, and overall fit and finish isnt that great. i still have the plastic crossover on mine and am worried about it cracking soon. i am about to do headwork, headers, midpipe, and another tuning session afterwards. whats your opinion? should i get the intake, or wait for mine to crack and get the hardballr? keep in mind that i am spraying 125.

That typhoon metal intake is just not a efficient model. Period.

i know that, but its right there and he wants to get rid of it anyways. i was reading up on the typhoon lastnight at work and was suprised to see anderson ford motorsport helped with the design and testing. he has packages that has the pro. parts prod. t/b, plenum, typhoon intake, along with his cams, and etc. i have heard a lot of good out of the afm products, but just wonder their judgement on the intake.

If it's not too much money, you might want to try it. But you know it's not the best you can get for the money you'll spend.

If he is letting it go for a cheap enough price then grab it but if not then dont waste the money. I have heard nothing but bad things about that intake...

thats the thing, all he will probably want is my intake and a little cash. thats not to bad of a price. all he has is cai, p&p t/b & spacer, p&p plenum & spacer, o/r x, and a set of flows. its doesnt have a tune of any sort, so the car cant actually get good benefits from it. its ok on the bottom, but it really opens up after 4k.

i know the typhoon isnt that great. i was curious on peoples opinion on wether or not to swap my stock intake with the plastic crossover to that one or wait. cars with the right mods will be able to benefit from the intake. it is better than stock on certain applications (boost&spray), but nowhere near as good as any of the other aftermarket intakes.

Has anyone actually USED the typhoon??? B/c all I ever hear is "some guy I know has used it". And if the fitment is bad...where is it bad at and what is the result of it?? It's like someone saying they don't like onions, and have never eaten them before. Not trying to sound like a jerk....I would just like someone to lay it out flat exactly WHY it's a"piece of crap"?

the car i am working on has one on it. that is what is stated above. it doesnt work great on his car since doesnt have enough to benefit from it. it is sluggish to 3800 rpm, ok to 4100 rpm, and wakes up around 4500 and pulls hard to 6k. i have enough to benefit me, and when i get a set of cams it will really help. i will take pics and post the intake.

there is a plenum spacer, but the tab is too low for the spacer adapter to work that came in the kit. i sold him the cai, p&p t/b and plenun, and spacers off my car. everything fit perfect on our stock intakes, but not the typhoon. a couple of the holes stripped when things began to get tightened. the mounts to tighten the coils are to low and smashes the plug boot. but here are some pics.

I don't know if it is because I have a NPI engine and still have coilpacks...but what "Mounts to tighten the coils"??? I still don't understand what I'm looking at. I'm just curious because I want to know what to look for when I put mine on that's all.
