Exhaust question

So when youre driving along and at about 3 or 4 grand you let off, what causes that backpressure popping or whatever it is? I fucking hate that noise and thats all i hear with my LM2 is there any engine mods i can do to make that less obvious (it'll be a good excuse to mod the engine)

my magnapacks did that really bad with my o/r h pipe so i swapped it out for an o/r x pipe and its a lot better now. From what i have read the straight through mufflers tend to do a lot better with x-pipes

yeah i have stock everything but the lm2
im getting a twin turbo soon and it comes with basically everything up to the midpipe so buying another one would be pointless i thought,

i dont know what to tell you. usually the midpipe causes the crackling but...the only thing i can think of is to sell the LM2 and buy a new catback.

well if a mid pipe will fix it, then thats fine, but if it has something to do with the catback then im screwed

every car does it its just more obvious with a v8. Its unused fuel burning up in the exhaust pipes, thats whey you never hear it when your engine is cold b/c the pipes arnt warm yet. but thats what it is and you cant really avoid it with a v8 but you can do things to make it less loud like an o/r x-pipe.. The design of the x doesnt allow the sound to "echo" like a H or a prochamber does so it wouldnt be as loud

ohh i thought you meant usually its the midpipe as in getting an aftermarket one would make it go away

I actually started to get just a little bit of exhaust pop even with an all stock exhaust... until recently I used sea foam and it completely got rid of it. I don't know if that will fix your problem because I've heard that aftermarket exhaust almost always pops, but it might help.

You will need to actively work with your A/F levels, so I would say a dyno tune. That's how I got rid of the "farting" out of the car. It sounded like a civic coming to a stop in first gear. "broooommm, prup pop pop pop"

Again, the tune will make it or break it. Insist with the tuner to be as perfect as possible. Sometimes the tuners will just put it on the dyno, get some numbers, add/remove fuel/timing and that's it. They don't tweak it enough to get perfection out of it unless you show them you know what you want... Remember, you're paying them, not a favor.
