first mods done!

I took her in for Magnaflow cat backs, 4:10 gears, bushings and sub-frame connectors. Picked her up on Saturday, and oh man...sounds so efn awesome. But half way home, I hear a jingling. Wasn't sure if it was my car since I was on the highway and had the top down. By the time I get almost home (50+ miles) the sound is so aweful I can't stand it. Sounded like the entire muffler was dragging on the pavement. I was so bummed!

Anyway, called the shop, and they think it's the pipes up against the DS. I'm taking it back in in about an hour so they can get it on the lift and have a look. I jacked it up and got under to have a look on Sunday, but couldn't see anything touching, but that didn't mean anything since it's the weight of the car, and jacking it up took the weight off.

In addition to the mods, they found the rear bearings were shot, and then found grooves cut into the axles around the seal. Not good. And the problem I had shifting? Well, turns out I've trashed the tranny, at least ruined the sync. That's what I get for power shifting

All in all I'm very happy with the $$$ I spent.

so it turns out that you can take the girl outta the grease, but you can't get the grease outta the girl :wink

the sound is probably a loose exhaust hanger. they probably missed it when installing it. thats what happened with mine when i had the exhaust installed.

I like this woman....

Did you try shutting the car off while at speed? (in neutral) That will help you hear and pin-point where the sound is coming from. Does it happens with any vibration on the road or big/small bumps? While accelerating/slowing down?

Turns out that on the very same day I drive the car from the shop, the left rear brake locked up. It sounded like metal on metal, but just assumed it was the ds against the new pipes. My bad...Needless to say, I trashed the rotor and had to replace both rear rotors and brake pads. Not awful, but definately embarassing!

But damn does the car sound good! I still need to get another air filter (longer and with a hole in the end) before I go to the track on the 26th. I'm really hoping to get in the low 13's.

next mods are MAC LT headers and o/r H pipes.

I'm already doing 13.80's, and the boys at the shop think I might be able to get in the 13.20's if I can get a good launch.

I won't be happy until I hit 12.99

then you won't be happy until you hit 11.99

but just hook up a nitrous kit. Also you might want to look into beefing up the IRS.

I've been reading so many articles about what can and can't be done with an '01 Cobra, and what should and shouldn't be done with the stock motor since it's aluminum not cast. Very confusing

So maybe NOS...but only for the track.

Princess, I use Nitrous to go get me groceries... There's very difference on running N20 and a blower when speaking of how much more work the engine is going through.

If I were you my next mod you be the IRS. You don't want that thing exploding on you. Your not even close to the danger zone but it seems to me that you have aspirations of the danger zone

Check this out

If (when) I get into the danger zone, I'll buy a something with a live axle. IRS is a damn fine thing to have in a daily driver. Doesn't make sense to take it out of this car.

Princess indeed *snort* I prefer to be called wench, thank you

If you build-up the IRS it could handle what you want to do. I readabout a TT Terminator with an IRS.

Oh, they know BadSally at the local NHRA track *wink*

I was up against a Camaro one day, and the announcer started going on about the age-old battle of Chevy vs. Ford, and says "Sally don't let us down!"

I redlighted
