Another Dumb Engine Swap Question
What if I wanted to drop a Ford 3-Valve V10 motor in my 2001 Mustang gt...Would any of the Ford Mustang transmissions bolt up to this easily? Would I be able to use a stock Mustang drive shaft? What about the rear gear ratio? Would the block itself be able to fit in my engine bay without too much modification? As for what truck this came out of I can only assume a 2005-2006 Ford F-150, its a complete assembly. I wanted to do this with a Viper V-10 pullout but I measured the engine size and theres no way I could do it reasonably...unless I wanted to drive from inside the trunk.

that would be a unique project but is impracticle. that engine most likely wont fit, the aftermarket is small, and you'll probably have a hard time finding a trans. you would be better off swapping in a built 302, or stroking the 2V and putting a blower on it. and one more thing that V10 will weigh a ton.

Re: Another Dumb Engine Swap Question
Should fit in the engine bay, the 6.8 V10 is the same width an height as the 5.4 V8... the only thing that differs is length from the 2 extra cylinders of the V10 but will still clear the radiator.
As for transmissions, any transmission for the 4.6/5.4 should work, the V10 block is based of the modular V8 blocks so you can use the stock drive shaft too... The other guy is right about the aftermarket for the modular V10 being next to none though but you can use the 5.4 V8 forged pistons and rods in the V10... but if you could fab up your own intake and turbo kit it would be a beast!

wow! that would be truly unique and i highly highly doubt that anyone in the world has a V10 modular mustang. Even if it is gonna cost a lot and b a lot of work... just think, "I'm the only one with a car like this."

Re: Another Dumb Engine Swap Question
Yeah it definately would be a cool project. its something I would look into if I had the money and knew someone that could fab up an intake and turbo for me... Those 3valve V10's make some nice power stock too (362HP and 457TQ)
