I need your opinions

I had plans to put springs on next, headers n midpipe, then TB, plenum, pulleys, and gears and be just about done with it, 02 GT has 64k miles. im looking at about $3000 more dollars into her. is it really worth it? probably looking at 30 more hp, i hate that the miles are climbing fast, should i stop, pay it off and buy a cobra or mach 1 or keep modding my GT. i dont want to put this money in and have the tranny go up soon or even the motor. are any of you modded with high mileage and still runnin strong? im listenin to you guys so what you think? thanks

dont worry about blowing your motor or tranny yet. U can start to worry about that in the 120k+ range. I mean mustangs are pretty well made but they are still are ford... so i mean dont expect it to last like a toyota or sumthin. If you constantly beat on it of course its not gonna last long but its like that with every car...

heres what i suggest. look for a low mileage mach 1... stock so you know its not been beaten on. Every single termi has been beatin the shit out of(i'm guessing). The reason they're selling it is b/c its not the car it once was when they got it (cuz they drive it like mad) or they cant afford insurance/its not a practical "family" car.

But if you cant find a decent mach 1 then just mod it... its not gonna hurt it at all. Heres what i suggest if you do that. Pick a day of the week, say the day you're going to the track... and that'll be your day to tear the streets up. Every other day drive it like a sain person so then you're achein' to get on her lol... thats what i do and it keeps me yearning for that day where i can tear shit up... and i never never get tired of it.

thanks manic, i was thinkin the same as you were, all the terminators people ran the sh*t out of them and i have been looking for a real low mile mach, i love the mach 1 look. I mean GT's are nice but there a dime a dozen, everyone and there brother has one now, and with these 4 cylinders comin out these days runnin 13's the GT just doesnt cut it, and thanks for replying matt.

yeah thats a valid point. Although damn!... if you have a termi why not drive it like its from Hertz haha? Thats what they're made for. I can see why you would want to baby a vette or a viper or sumthing along those lines but mustangs are so much cheaper and still somewhat fast. I can see why someone with a very limited budget would baby a gt, but damn comeon, mustangs are cheap muscle cars for the american man... and they're fortunatly cheaper than chevy muscle cars even tho they lack the power (not counting the termi)... gt's are made for ppl to DRIVE them, not baby them.

and if you're worried about breakin it then do what i do... pick your day of the week

If you want to waste the money go ahead. Think of all the money you've paid so far in your GT and think about getting into a new loan and still put money out for mods. You can spend some money on your GT and kick ass and still have money left/saved for some other things. These days you really have to save and keep for the future. No matter how much you make, rolling cars into new loans don't pay off very well...
