Handling?

Hey guys, i don't know if this is just my car or if all mustangs do this and i'm an idiot, but i was wondering if when you guys slow down from going like 45+ does your steering pull to one side or the other? I noticed i have to hold onto my wheel really tight to keep it straight when slowing down (especially when clutch is in or in neutral), because it will jerk to the left or right if i don't.[/code]

Really tight?? I dont think that is right...i have never had to hold mine "really tight" to keep it straight to slow down.

You need an alignment.

Mine was like that, like an extremely hard pull. Got an alignment and close to no more pull.

is this happening without hitting the brakes? if so then yeah alignment time or new tire time or possibly a sticky caliper

I dont think it does it when accelerating, maybe somewhat, i'll try and pay more attention.

Thanks for the input guys!

How much does it cost to get an alignment?

Yeah we need to replace the front 2 brake pads i believe.. could this be the problem?

How can i tell if my rotors need to be turned? Could that be the problem?

if your steering wheel shakes when you hit the brakes, then the rotors are out of round and need to be turned. or if you see glazing or hotspots on the rotors or grooves, you need to turn them or replace them. Then it has to be determined if they are within specs to be turned.
Personally I would buy new rotors and pads. Rotors for these cars are pretty cheap.

if you brought it to a dealership just to have them check the brakes would they charge you? is that what your asking?

Im not sure if they do or not to be honest. I know I get paid .5 hours for checking brakes. So I would think that they might. But not for sure.

Air pressure if definitely one thing. Also depends on whether or not you have low-pro tires. I've got 255 40 17's and they pull sometimes. Also I found out that if the pavement, especially asphalt is slightly rutted out due to high traffic, my front tires will really want to ride in the low spot which makes me jerk my steering wheel to keep that from happening. I prefer driving on concrete.
