Problem...New Brakes Not Catching at ALL

I just put the Cobra Big Brake kit on my 2001 GT and have a serious problem...the brakes are'nt working at all. I just topped off the brake fluid and I could'nt use the SS brake lines so I re-used my stock brake lines and nothing is happening. Please help.

Did you bleed the system after putting on the calipers?

I think if you take the car on the freeway you'll find they work just fine.

Ok. Can someone please give me a diagram of how these brake-bleeding kits are supposed to work? This brake-bleeding kit I just bought has THE least helpfull instructions Ive ever seen.

Well you need to start with the passenger rear then the driver rear then the passenger front and then the driver front!! And make sure to keep an eye on the level of fluid cause the last thing you want to do is pump air into the system!!

No Im only doing the front brakes. I connected the brake bleeding kit to what I believe is the bleeder screw (that screw on the side of the caliper) and pumped the brake pedal several times but there is no fluid coming into the container.

Yeah but you still opened up the entire system so you should still bleed all 4 wheels!!

Is there fluid in the reservoir??....

Thanks but please forget what I should do, the front brakes are not working at ALL...now, is it possible to bleed only these brakes so they work? I can cover all the bases later but for now I cannot get fluid into that container when I pump the brake pedal.

I don't see why you can't bleed just the front ones.... but i was always told when you open the system that you need to do a 4 corners!!

And you know that you are supposed to pump up the brakes and hold them while someone else opens the bleeder right??.....

You want to bleed all 4 wheels. Even though you only worked on the front brakes some air might have gotten into the rear lines a little bit.

As for the bleeding part, you need to loosen the bleeder for the machine to pull fluid out of it.

OK you DO NOT have to bleed all 4 corners just because you cracked open 1 line or 2.
If you left those lines uncapped after you took them loose and all the fluid ran out, then yeah you might have to bleed the rears also. Either way, it sure as hell isnt gonna hurt to bleed all 4.

Throw what ever the hell you bought to bleed those brakes in the trash.

Remove the master cylinder cap
fill with fluid
do not reinstall cap
open up ALL 4 bleeder valves.
let gravity pull the air out.
keep an eye on each valve.
when you see fluid constantly running out a valve and no more air, close that valve.

do this until all 4 are freeing freely and close them off.
refill resivoir then put MC cap back on. pump up the brake pedal.
Go drive your car and have fun.

OR
get a bottle of brake fluid
put hole in top of bottle cap
insert rubber hose thru hole down into brake fluid
take other end of hose put on 1 caliper bleeder valve
open valve a little bit
get in car
pump brake pedal 10 times (or until there is no more air in the line.)
close bleeder valve
take bottle and hose to the next caliper
repeat process as you did on the first caliper
always make sure the hose is submerged in the bottle far enough to suck up new brake fluid, if not, add more to that bottle.

Damn I should really do a write up on "how to bleed brakes with or without help.
