The first things at the top of my list are performance, and as I stated, I like having some go, and eventually will have alot, but in the mean time, seeing as I don't race, gears are not important.

i suggested gears first because they'll give you the whole "set of the pants" feeling. while they don't add HP, you'll definitely be able to feel gears more than exhaust or CAI. not that you shouldn't do what you want, i mean, it is your car and all. i did that stuff before gears and i kinda wish i had done gears first. i'll put it this way: i raced a buddy of mine right after he bought his '03. i was in my explorer (v6). i got him off the line and he didn't catch me till 3rd. to use his own words, i "embarrassed" him. the very next week, he got 3.73's put in.

Yea I understand that, and thats cool an all, but right now I don't really race or anything. So I rather get the exhaust, and enjoy hearing the car roar. And then when I decide I want to really move quickly on acceleration, i'll get 3.73 gears, but until then, it won't really make sense to get them. So it's not like i'm not gonna get them, cause I will, but not at this time thats all.

IMHO, Gears are a must whether you "race" or not. The 3.27 on these things don't do any justice to the performance of the car. But, that's my opinion. In fact, Gears were my first mod, then came exhaust...

Good luck either way!

gotcha. exhaust is probably the most common first mod. when i got mine, it already had a Dr. Gas o/r x pipe and spintech catback.

Control your emotions... It's just a car and it's not worth it. Save the money in CASH and call it a day.

Lets see:

Lake George NY, It's Summertime, The Saratoga Horse Track is open, Kids are still out of school, The Great Escape is still open = a very bad time for gears in upstate NY, thats the BIG reason i'm holding off for now. It's just way too busy of an area around here this time of year. But I appreciate the input, and I will get gears, just not now.

Ehh if your talking to me, my emotions are perfectly fine. It's the people (excluding 00vabchgt) that want me to buy what they want me to buy (Gears), that are getting all bent out of shape & E-motional because I don't wanna buy gears first. Trust me I know what gears do, and been in cars with 4.10's before, and though I plan on getting gears, they don't suit my wants and needs right now.

Ehh, no I wasn't "talking" to you. I finished my statement up there with "Good luck either way!"...

This thread has gotten funny. So many miscommunications. It's like locking a blind guy, a deaf guy and a mute in a round room and telling them to work together.

That's Sorta Where I'm at I bought My gears A while ago But Instead of getting them installed I keep buying more parts. It's something I'm gonna Do but it's not a must have right now.

As a side note alot of people say they get better gas mileage when they swap gears and they think it's cause of city driving in a higher gear (Cruising at 45 in 4th instead of 3rd) But I think Highway driving it's just less strain on the engine at higher rpm's........... And it's more effiecent.
Just my 2 cents.
These engines just purr when they get up over 2600 rpm's
