99 4.6 cobra motor swap into a 2000 Gt


i was wondering if it is a hard job to swap a 99 4.6 3V cobra motor into a 2000 Gt 2V if anyone has swaped motors or knows how plz let me know

You will need al new wiring and the computer to go with it.

At least thats what I was told by everyone when I was going to swap my blown 98 GT motor for a 98 Cobra engine.

I imagine that you will need to do the same.

i would have to say it's going to be hard considering a 3v Cobra motor was never made :wink

Hear say


I was told the same things at first but i looked into it alot more and though ive never done it or anything ive found that supposedly you can modify the existing GT wiring harness for the coils. The GT computer can start the engine but it wont run right you'll need to flash it. I am seriously considering putting in an older DOHC in my GT (since i cant sell the damn thing) but i guess for the older ones you have "work in the MIR valves"? is what a kid i was talking to told me... Hope that helps lemme know how it goes

I was going to say... I thought the '05+ were the 3V motors.
