98 Cobra Motor --> 01 GT Swap

How much work would this take? How much would it cost etc?

Would my current transmission bolt right on (3650)?

I can get the motor but the guy says I will need a Cobra Computer and a radiator. What do you guys think? How much would it cost to get it up and running? Lets assume the motor is going to run me $1100.

By the way it has 80k miles on it and a spun rod bearing that needs to be fixed.

You can always go check WWW.MPSAutoSalvage.COM

They usually have great deals on used engines, and better engines than the 98 Cobra. It's just my opinion, but I would try to get a 03/04 Cobra engine. Either way let us know what you do.

I dunno if it would be worth it unless you plan on building it up

You should be able to get a used cheaper then that. If not, I would just get a crate engine, they are usually cheaper & have more power than Fords standard engines. If thats what you can afford though, then buy it ya want.

the only crate engines ford sells for our cars is the mach 1 engine and the 5.0 "cammer". the mach 1 is 6k and the cammer is 15k. the other small blocks need to be carbuerated (sp) and dont pass emissions

What I was saying is do a search, because there are better engines that you can swap, that are made for the Mustang GT, but NOT made by FORD.

You'll need an 8 bolt flywheel and probably a stronger clutch to hold the added power for your 3650 to bolt up. That's easy...

Your GT ECC and radiator will suffice if you're on a tight budget, but i'd change the radiator out eventually.

You can use your GT harness with a few modifications made to work on the cobra motor. It should bolt right in no issues. It'll be a little larger though up top with the 4V heads, so removing the valve covers will be a total bitch. You're going to have to take out the hydroboost unit completely just to remove the driver's side valve cover...

It's a relatively easy swap though, I just put an 04' motor in my 04' GT.
