removing cats?
Just wondering if i would run into any problems with removing my cats. I know the check engine light will stay on but I have a buddy with a Ford PDA so he can turn it off. Inspections/ emissions are not really a problem.

it will smell a little more like fumes/gas, but you should actually get a better flow response in performance. No problems.

Aftermarket mid-pipes will give you a cleaner look, and you won't have to worry about the busted out cats just sitting there serving no purpose at all.

The car wont pass emissions without cats though. If you buy a mid pipe, you should keep the stock one for when you get your car inspected. Bolt the stock one back up take it to get it inspected and swap em back agin. It sounds like a PITA i kno, but it works..

if you have a stock exhaust, you should get a catless h-pipe. it will sound very deep, and very much like a muscle car should. i have an h-pipe with magnapacks. since it is a straight through muffler, i should have gone with an x-pipe. less vibration, less loud popping. i spent only 169 on my pipe, i noticed a slight difference in horse power, but not that much. if i were to do it again, i would do long tube headers and a high flow catted x-pipe.

I've got stock exhaust with Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers. So which one sounds better, X or H?

i personally think the h-pipe. it will give you a deeper sound, but i would reccomend high flow cats. it is friggin loud. my father can hear me literally a mile away from my house. i am worried i will get pulled over.

Ok but what about just removing the cats or hollowing them out and using the stock h pipe. They don't really care about emissions around here. Also what do you think about Slp loudmouth echo tips behind the super 44s?

Not sure about the tips, but like I said above, your better off buying an off-road mid-pipe. Thats just my opinion, but it def would look better, and sound cleaner.

from what i have heard, the prochamber is supposed to sound pretty cool, i have never heard it in person, but i have heard really good things. as far as the hollowing out of the cats, forget it. it is more work than it is worth. you can pick up a pipe for like 169 shipped. as far as emissions, i mean i guess if you lived in florida it would be cool, but like i said, it is very loud. if i were to do it over i would get the high flow cats, because you still have to worry about noise violations and shit. i drive like a grandma on the highway because i do not want to get pulled over. my father is pissed at me for doin it. lol
