Difference in gas mileage between a GT and a Cobra

I know that may sound dumb but since I`m in the process of buying a Mustang, I was wondering if there a huge difference in gas mileage between a stock GT and a Cobra(or a supercharged GT). Also, I read that one of the first mods is to get 4:10 gears but since I mostly do highway and don`t plan to go to the track, should I put my money on something else?? I`m not into street racing eighter ...

the gas mileage difference is minimal.

4:10's are fun in a Cobra.

then again so is the 6 spd.

Buy the Cobra (03-04)

Thanks bro. I hear a lot you guys preach for the 03-04 Cobra but what about the 1999-2001 Cobra??? Not good or not worth the extra money??

Extra Money? 99/01 cobras wouldn't be more money.
99/01s aren't supercharged and don't look as nice as the 03/04s.

03/04 cobra FTW

Ok I thought that a 99/01 Cobra was still worth more money than a regular GT. I knew that they we`re not supercharged though. As far as the look, I totally agree with you that they don`t look as good as the 03-04 but still is not that bad ... And 320 HP is still more fun that 260 HP...

99/01 Cobra will cost more than 99-04 GT's most of the time, but they will be less than the 03/04 Cobras, which cost $24-30,000.

there only so many different things in looks between the 03-04 cobra and the 99-01 cobras..only thing that brings price up so high on the 03-04 is that lil thing sitting on top the engine..eaton..no lie i love em..but way to costly..

The 03/04 Cobra was nicknamed the Terminator by the Lead Designer cause this car was being built for one purpose. To terminate the wars between Mustang and Camaro. It succeeded and tore down the Vettes Title as King.

Most people get a pulley upgrade on the Cobra cause for very little money you can go from a 375 rwhp car to a 445 rwhp car. My 03 is putting 460 to the wheel and she is a beast.

4:10 gears work really well in a GT Auto and some stick guys love them. But never get that high of a ratio if you plan on getting a SC or buying a Cobra. The Cobra comes with 3:55 gears and they are perfect. You see nothing with a 3:73 swap out. With 4:10 gears in a Cobra you might as well forget about first, you will have to shift again before you even let off the clutch from take off, just not worth it. Besides you'll run out of gear down the track.

I hate to break it to ya, but the Vette still is the king. ZO6>Cobras anyday.

Cobra's are sexy, but ZO6's are even sexier imo.

Depends on the driver. I clobbered an 06 Z06 2 nights ago. But Z06's start at 70k. Give me 7k and I could make a new Z06 look like a VW Bug for power. Don't get me wrong, Vettes are decent cars but I never liked the newer styles, my neighbor has an 07 Z51 and I embarrass him when we race, his wife is livid at me cause he is going to drop 6k on mods to beat me, but haven't told him yet I am going to Whipple mine soon and still clobber him.

First of all, I don`t WORRY about gas mileage, I was just asking out of curiosity and I had enough cars in my life(including a Camaro with a 350) to know that when it comes to cars( real ones I mean) sport does not go with economy. Secondly, there is no way in hell that I would buy a V6. The look is not the only reason why I want to buy a Mustang. You will agree with me that a V6 does not give you neighter the sound, the torque and the feeling a V8. I love everything about a GT as much as anyone of you out there and I just don`t have to go to the track or street race to enjoy a good sound and torque. I can do all of that while daily driving AND within the speed limits. Please note that I have absolutely nothing about V6 Stangs, the just not my cup of tea but thanks for the advice anyways!!

Yes extra HP and torque is very impressive from 0-30. Enjoy!

He must be a really bad driver. Alot of people buy fast cars thinking the car will do everything for them and get them the same times as everybody else. If he can afford that car and is jealous of a Mustang he's :wink anyway!

You might beat one in a strait line up to a 1/4 mile. But, even if you do throw 7k more into your car you won't touch a z06 on the twisties or top end. Those cars are designed to be on par with super cars.

Yeah I'd like to see that. I work at a huge Chevrolet dealership and we have a few z06's out front. I rode passenger in one the other day and I don't see how anything could compare, not even the shelby gt 500. The z06 is light as hell, has handling, has power, and is definately sexy. The price is very high, but the car has everything. I'm not putting down fords at all, I mean after all I have a mustang and I love it, but the z06's don't really have competition in that price range for a stock car.

Then all you would need is a sail and flag and you'll be all set.
