Weigh out the pros and cons for getting a vert. and if your pros outnumber the cons then get it. I personally prefer a hardtop cuz its lighter and I'm all bout speed. It's all personal preference. Good luck dude!!

heh, the aspect of having a convertible street/strip car is very appealing to me, because it's so rare and going fast as hell with the top down is awesome

I absolutely love love love my convertible. The thought of getting one before was kinda like 'Eh, not sure about that.' Now that I have had it for a while broke it in and raced it, it's just awesome. Speaking on behalf of all convertibles, two of the cons are gonna be they weigh more and they are less structurally sound. But I feel the pros out weigh the cons by a mile. Almost all mods for a hardtop you can get for the 'vert (Excluding louvers and such). You can even get a roll cage when you are ready.

I like my vert, chicks dig it too. If I were building a track car, I would have purchased a coupe without a second thought though. Verts are heavier and some of them leak. Mine doesn't but it's also since I got a color matched cloth top as soon as I purchased it. I think the stock top is vinyl and has kind of a rough texture. If purchasing a SN95 convertible, you absolutely need aftermarket weld-in subframe connectors for it. Also a lot of tracks (road course) will require you to have a roll bar, which disqualifies me from those events. If you're building a performance car that sees a lot of track, get a coupe. If you want to build a street fighter and GT car, get a convertible.

Autopower Street Roll Bar, 1994-04 Convertible [71271] : Maximum Motorsports, the Latemodel Mustang Performance Suspension Leader!
Most tracks around me have a 4 point minimum so this qualifies. Look into it asian
