So this is what i've decided to do Stereo wise

some of you may have remembered my posts about adding a sub and adding a Headunit and what not...

well these are my plans, i'm an idiot of not thinking about this before!!!!!

A kenwood excelon headunit, boston acoustics 6x8's, MB Quart 10'' refrence sub, and an alpine MRV mono amp.

ok the idiot part... i was freaking out about bypassing the factory 460 amps and having all this distortion and bull but i was sitting here thinking... just get rid of the damn 460 amps and use the Headunit to power the aftermarket speakers! The kenwoods are pretty powerful at 22rms 50 peak, so i wont even need a god damn speaker amp!!! god i'm an IDIOT!

It'll be so much cheaper and then i'll be able to add a sub amp w/o any worries at all

If your listen to your music loud (and I'm not talkin' crazy blow your eardrums out loud), you're still gonna get some distortion out of those speakers. I had a Pioneer w/28rms & 60 peak and when I bumped up to a 92rms external amp the difference in sound quality was incredible. It was like night and day. I'm not sayin' what your doin' is a bad choice, it should sound awesome, but if you want the best sound, get an external amp

yeah... i just dont have the money you kno. What i really wanted to do is just add a sub to the mach 460 but u have to go through soooo much bs just to do that and its not worth it (but if anyone has successfully dont it TELL ME!!!!). the main reason i want an aftermarked Head unit is because i want somethin i can hook my ipod up to cuz those fm transmitters suck an ace!

Yeah, I understand how it is. I want a KB but lack severly in the funds department !
+1 to those head units being a POS. My headunit has cost me almost as much drama as my X that cheated on me! Sometimes I wish she were a dude so I could just and let her know how I really feel . Oh wait... but then that would make me gay so nevermind.

yeah that honda in that video is a low 11 second honda at 5800 ft and a density altitude of 9000+and he was running that quick! It was also the first time that driver had driven it! Did you see how he flew right by the staging lanes? And yes that is me! and dont worry about my time! I mean a WS6 that I ran only ran a 15.3! I hate high altitude!

Anytime you "listen" real good to anything powered by just the head unit, you will most likely pick up some sort of distortion. You should always use external amps for clarity and power. The head unit shouldn't be making any effort to power speakers. That is the right way.

distortion comes from pushing your power supplys to hard ex.. turning up a head unit it has no gain adjustment except for the volume distortion crossovers and quality have their hand in sound quality but the main point to hit is if you want a really loud stereo is buy quality equipment and buy amps that are rated higher then the speaker and run them on a lower setting
