Horsepower

So i recently purchased a 2001 cobra. I was wondering how much power should i expect with a o/r x pipe and flowmaster cat back and pullies. I know they rate it at 320 but i know that is at the crank so any input would be great

What? My 2001 GT is rated from the factory at 260 and I KNOW the Cobras are faster...What am I putting out then with a flowmaster, a 5-speed at peak performance and a CAI?

Oconor, your GT puts down 260 to the crank, and about 220 to the wheels.
The 2001 cobra puts down about 320 to the crank, and with his slight mods about 260-265 to the wheels.

It's the life of Mustang brother. Not trying to jack the thread or kill your hopes, but that's reality. That doesn't mean that it will be slow.

About 265-270 for the cobra! If a base GT has a loss of about 40hp that puts it at 220rwhp and being that the cobra has 320 subtract 40 I'd say 270, just using 3rd grade math to make myself sound smart! And you shouldn't loose 60hp in a manual 01 cobra (Stock)!

thee car isnt stock and by the way 320 minus 40 is 280 lol. A few bolt ons and that is about it. Also they rate the mach 1 at 305 but i have heard people say on here that the mach 1 is 270-275 to the wheels

There's always some loss to every car in the market. Lucky we for bolt ons.

2001 cobra and a 2003 mach1 are a drivers race but I could :award be wrong I think with Identical drivers the mach 1 would pull but only by less than a car!

the rule of thumb to get you in the ball park is to take the crank HP and subtract 15% for manual, 20% for auto, and that's RWHP. bear in mind, this is just to get an estimate of your RWHP. the only way to find out for sure is to dyno the car.

Why does your screen name say 2001 Mustang Saleen, not Cobra?

You got rid of a real Saleen for a Cobra?
If it were a 03-04 I would say OK, but I'd rather have the more rare of the two.
