Check www.latemodelrestoration.com or Ebay as usual.

It's up to you, but I would just buy it all now, that way you know it's all brand new.

any way easier? is it harder to just take the bearing out of existing assembly rather than replace the whole thing?

I'm not sure, because I never had to change the bearings before, but imo, if your gonna fix something, it's easier to just buy everything now and get it over with, than to end up having to change something again later.

i think they sell the whole assembly that way cause its a sealed unit. cheaper to get a new assembly than repair.... lets say you got bearings for 20.00 and it takes you an extra hour time per side to rebuild the assembly... goin rate for a shop is 35-65 an hour my time is worth just as much as anybodys else i may say cash but im just gonna end up with a refurbed part that would be cheaper, quicker, and more reliable to buy the assembly and replace the whole unit
