How are your plugs looking? Tune ups can help stuff like that if its been awhile.

But i know what you mean mine does that when its at freezing temps and outside.

Does this happen during cold starts or even after you've driven it?

cold starts, and even if the car has being running for a while and i turn it off and turn back on 5 minutes later to go to the store or something. one time i turned it on and you could hear it start up and then for some reason it turns right off and it starts to make a clicking sound. then i started to give it gas and it finally turn on

Have you done any modding to it recently. If so, what? Doubt it's the starter. Did you say this is an 04....v6 or v8?

I have noticed this as well, only on a restart when the car is hot. Car almost starts but sometimes will stall.
I doesn't do it all the time, just once in a while

I figured out the fix:

Turn the key to on, put seatbelt on etc and THEN crank it and it fires up every time. IOW give the pump time to pressurize.

It hasn't failed once since I have been doing that.

I think it's a Mustang thing.

I had a similar problem. I replaced my fuel pump and do this. Works great.

yeah all you have to do neck is let it sit for a second with the key in the start postition. Then press the clutch in and it should start right up!
