I've been searching the Internet and this forum for a write up on installing the power wire kit off of american muscle for a high output alternator replacement, but no luck. Anyone?

It just replaces the stock alternator output wire. Disconnect the battery, remove the stock output wire, install the new one, and reconnect the battery.

Does it really help? I have upgraded Alt myself and never thought about this until now.

^This is absolutely right. It's a direct replacement! Like Stang187 said "Disconnect the battery, remove the stock output wire, install the new one & reconnect the battery".
