Ok I've gotten myself in a dilemma...

One of my buddies at School has a 99 Turboed (60 PSI!!!!!) Dodge ram 2500 Cummins that runs w/ DR's high 13's w/o DR's a 14.5. IDK how there can be THAT much of a difference by just DR's but i think its his TQ... over 1200LBTQ to the Rears. Hes a pretty good friend of mine and we go to the track everyonce in awhile to watch and race (i've only been once to race... last friday).

ok to the point. He wants to race and i agreed. We threw down some ca$h (dont worry very small amount). He's gonna run his normal off roading tires so it wont give him an advantage. What the hell can i do to beat him? I'm not too worried, i just dont want to get beat by a freakin truck running a 14.5? KEEP IN MIND, i'm sure many of you have read my topic about my 1st time at the track on friday. I ran at best a 14.606 which is horrible considering my mods but pretty good considering my 1st time. The previous owner of my car got it at a 13.8 with DR's and Stock rims same mods.

My mods are:
75mm TB and Plenum
Pypes catted X
Pypes Violator Catback
and Alum driveshaft
I also have American Racing Rebels which weigh a ton, but they look damn good IMO so they're worth keeping on until i get some stocks for Draggin and winter. I'm sure i could've gotten a 14.5 w/o them.

Say I do exactly what i did last run (14.606) but this time with a JLT... Will my Time be any better? Its the launch that effs me up... but will the JLT give me a better MPH? Also What about a dyne tune for 93 octane? also what else can dyne tunes tune?

i think its all driver buddy, remove your rear seat, spare tire, jack and front sway bar. If i was in your car it would run 13.40's. Raise your front tire pressure to 45psi, rears to 21. feather the clutch out instead of just mashing the gas and the diesel should be no problem. With stock tires, mac catback and shifter i ran a 13.89 my very first time at the track.

O haha my bad matt . I thought u were tryin to be an asshole lol. Yeah and he only has 400 HP. Its a crazy HP to TQ ratio. His 60ft is about a 1.6 or sumthin crazy like that. He just sits there and spools until it turns green.
Yeah i really need practice launching... once i have that down i'll be good.

1200 ft lbs is possible.....

anyways, a JLT isnt going to do that much difference for you

if you are planning on getting it anyway, by all means, it will not hurt you

practice, practice, practice!! that driver mod can make a world of difference!

when you get there, let the air down in your tires as mentioned above, and dont do a long burnout on street tires, just spin them over enough to clean them off...

when i go to race, i raise the back of my seat up a little and move it up a hair (i feel like i do better this way)... just small inexpensive things that could help every little bit

Ok thanks for the advice. Everyday on the way home from school at every stop light i'm practicing lol. well maybe not every but a lot.

Now i'm sure i'm gonna get dissed again for this....ahem 99 stang and bass ahem...
But this kid also has another cummins with 800hp and 2400LBTQ... It runs effin 8's!!!! He's famous for one of the fastest legal trucks in the world! In over 10 issues of Truckin' Mag. I really dont like the desel trucks but damn u gotta respect that a 17yr old kid can run an 8 in a truck and after all that be famous for it lol

o and the race is next tuesday and O'reily raceway park. we're only throwin down 30 each but its more for the bragging rights of the school haha

The reason for such a high TQ rating and mediocre HP rating is becacuse they only rev to 4 or 5k rpms. Most regular cars make max HP at 6k+ trust me if that Bad boy diesel could rev to 6 or 7k rpm it would be around 800-900 hp.

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/9...530155f28f.htm Heres a video of it a year ago when it had only 600hp and 1800TQ... The truck was built in memory of his past brother Jeremy Schmitt who passed one year prior on the football practice field at Cathedral High School. He was Number 70... hence the 70 and shamrock on the window.

and i also 2nd the weight reduction statement.... every 100 lbs is supposed to lose 1/10

removing the spare tire and jack, and a nearly empty tank of gas may help more than you think!
