engine question

I'm planning on upgrading my engine, and I was wondering if i should do bit by bit to my current engine, or if i should just buy a stock 4.6 block for a couple hundred bucks and work off that, or an upgraded block or what?
i dont know how much the stock one can withstand and i really hate taking out all my engine parts, just because of the electrical

what do you have in mind upgrade wise and what are your demands of your current car... daily driver and such...

do what you are comfortable with... i can tell you that i would not be able to rip out my engine disassemble it and put it back together over a weekend... so plan right... ya know

but honestly im just trying to help you soo

Well, if you can get a 4.6 and start building it outside, I would do just that. Trust me, it would hurt to have the spare engine for later, just in case... Plus it's easier to work on it out there and then just drop it in.

it also depends how much boost you want to put to it, and how much power you want out of it. building on a seperate block is a hell of lot easier and will make it a lot easier when you go to change the motor.

i made the mistake of putting twins on my 00 gt before upgrading the stock internals and it didnt work too well, the stock internals on the mustang are not strong at all, especially the rods, then i made the mistake of just buying forged internals and not an entire shortblock, my car is a daily driver and the only car i own, and i had to bum rides for 2 months, then the maching shop that did all the work on my block screwed up and my new motor lasted 300 miles without seeing any boost, so now i have to sell my turbo system to pay for the new engine, and i am bumming rides again, so if you have the dough, buy a built shortblock from a place like mmr or someone who has alot of experience building turbo mustangs, your car will be down for a shorter period of time and you know it will be assembled right
