I didnt know this was possible?

I think i may be swapping out the ol' sohc if this is the case

and trust me, it isnt too much to read

Those smug LS1 boys didn't know what hit 'em. Overnight, SN-95-the platform made famous for pairing an Eaton blower with the four-valve-per-cylinder mod mill-made for a lethal combination with crazy potential. Although the '03-'04 Cobras were often ridiculed by the Bow-Tie crowd, Ford's last Cobra was one bad mofo. Aptly dubbed the "Terminator," it pushed stock SVT Mustangs deep into the 12s despite a suspiciously conservative horsepower rating of 390. Simply swapping in a smaller blower pulley and uncorking the intake and exhaust tracts had Cobras laying down 500 hp at the wheels. The LS1 was finally subjected to a paternity test, and its daddy was the '03 Cobra.

While comparisons between Fords and Chevys are inevitable, perhaps the Cobra is more of a domestic rebuttal to the Toyota Supra. Like the Toyota's 2JZ-GTE inline-six, the Cobra's bulletproof long-block can handle hundreds of additional horsepower without breaking a sweat. Its stout iron block, steel H-beam rods, and forged crank and pistons laugh in the face of extra boost, but there's still a point where the stock Eaton gets wheezy. To push the boundaries of the stock 4.6 to the max, Manny Alvarez of HPP Racing (Lewisville, Texas) yanked the factory blower in favor of twin GT35R turbos. The result was 820 rwhp.

im not impressed with termi anynmore, after i outran a 445 rwhp termi and then got beat by one car length by a 460 rwhp termi, in my car on motor. yeah they make a ton of power with a pulley swap, but they dopnt seem to go any faster

in my opinion, first establish where you'd like to be in the rwhp field.. i think im gonna settle for around 500 or 600ish horsepower to the wheels and when *crosses fingers/toes/arms/legs/etc/etc* i get a term ill go balls to the wall w/ twin turbo.. mmm lol

i think alot of that has to do with the drivers.. considering you run what you do in the 1/4, i wouldn't be surprised if you just smoked them due to being able to drive alot better

so when people say all we get out of our na sohc engines is like 350 hp, or around there, then is there anything else to do without an engine swap and besides FI? it just seems a little low with a fully modded engine

I agree. Build your 2V motor and boost that bitch and you will be kicking the snot out of modifed Termi's. Especially if you get a twin turbo setup :wink

Ya, I read that exact article over the 800+ sonic blue cobra. Was Insane. But you can get that same twin turbo kit for your gt. Just go look at there site.

well from pts or wherever that was from, the only twin turbo kit you can get is for the cobra, hp makes a twin turbo kit for the mustang gt, but the turbos are in between the bumper, so im guessing maintenance would be a bitch on that kit, the only downfall which is why i was hoping pts would make one

yes that is true, heres the downside of that though:

cobras have a t-56 six speed, the 3650 that is in our GT's will not hold up to that power. cobras also have better brakes, and aren't their rear ends stronger? so those are a few things to take into consideration..

if i decide to keep my GT and mod it vs getting a cobra, i'm gonna go all out. i wouldn't even bother with a kenne bell. i would go with a forged stroker shortblock and a twin turbo setup. i would be shooting for 600+

and another thing about turbos, they are much better for street driving right? because they dont make boost until you step on it?

they can get full boost at around 2000 rpm if you like, depends with what setup you go with and alot of people with cobras usually switch out their irs for solid axles like ours, for some reason, atleast i think they do. and if the 56 bothers you, just get a tko600, it'll dominate all
