flowmaster exhaust

I just recently finished my flowmaster delta 40's catback with BBK long tubes and BBK catted H-pipe. I was wondering if the popping sound from the mufflers is typical with flowmaster technology or the car needs to be tuned properly? Its not a bad sound...just a little obnoxious inside the car. The motor is stock besides the basic bolt ons for the next week or so untill my supercharger arrives.

It needs a tune. Mine was really bad when first put on my Magnapacks, but after getting my DiabloSport and updating it on thier web site it sounds much better.

i think most aftermarket exhaust will give you that sound when you let off the gas. it will be even louder with a o/r mid pipe, but your catted h-pipe with high flow cats is gonna give you more of a gurgling/popping noise than the stock h pipe.

It's just unused fuel burning up in the exhaust pipes. A better tune will take care of it.

Thanks for your inputs. Waiting for the SC to get here so I can get it tuned. And if the flowmasters are garbage....i will probably just take the mufflers out and go straight pipe. I am not paying another 400-500 for a cat back exhaust.

I did not say they are garbage. They sound awesome...besides the popping sound when you let off the gas or down shift. If the tune does not fix my problem then i am getting rid of the mufflers. The popping noise does not sound good to me...imo.

Yeah, the popping isn't gonna stop untill you tune it. like mentioned above, it's just excess fuel.... as a far as your performance, how is it with the BBK LT's and H w/ flowmasters? This is the exact same setup i'n going with, but offroad H pipe with super 40's.

I like it a lot....it has a great sound and a pretty good change in performance. I just cant wait to bolt on this SC. But very satified with the choice. Took a little longer to install....i should of read a couple more forums before doing it..for advice. If you need some do it your self advice let me know. It was getting late at the shop so we were makin stupid mistakes...and we made a couple of them...oh well lmao. Always willing to help out a fellow Marine

Personally I'm not a fan of the flows, but you must be if you bought them. the tune will take care of the popping, but whatever you do, don't go straight pipes. If you think it sounds bad now, just wait if you do that.

That is exactly why he needs a new tune, because the fuel that used to burn up in the cats is now making it all the way to the mufflers. He's is running a bit rich for his current set up.

plus there is not any type of resonator or back pressure. mine popped really bad with the old set up, not so much now. when you add boost, the popping will go to a minimum.
