you did fine. besides the opend compenetent, your gonna need the complete wiring harness, computer, and all of the bolts for the heads and cams

engine. computer . wiring harness. it would be worth the gain but expensive. its all a good base if you are wanting to push more than 400-450 hp because the 03-04 blocks are the romeo blocks that hold up 2 800hp i think. but if you are just wantin to put out like 400hp it would be cheaper to build the engine you have. just the engine will be like atleast 5k unless you can find a good deal. they are 8k on ebay reman i think. never had oil in them. but you can also get a 429scj for that price and put out A LOT more power n/a

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. I am just trying to find the cheapest way to get about 550 rwhp and i know those cobra motors can make some monstorous power for not that much mulla. My buddy has an 05 GTO whith about 550 to the ground and I just can't let him win the hp battle. once again thanks

ok so now in this very thread there are two different contradicting statements. one guy said it would be cheaper to swap for a cobra motor and another guy said it would be cheaper to forge the GT's internals, put 4v heads on it, and boost the crap out of it. Is there anybody on this forum that has maybe done either one of these to give a price/cost? As far as ease i personally don't car about that, i love projects and besides i could then say that i have something that not very many other people have...

I don't think RyanGT was talking about putting 4V heads on it. I think he was talking about forging the internals of a 2V and boosting the crap out of that.

well, i am looking for around 550 rwhp, but i also want to be able to go bigger someday if i ever wanted to, so thats why i was considering a cobra motor. What can these GT motors handle if they are fully forged?

perhaps you should just go with a twin turbo...check some of the race videos, some are illegal street from the cockpit view and drag...all mustangs. some give you chills . enjoy

With fully forged internals if you just add a KB SC system you will be over your goal. The site will tell you everything you need.

that sounds like a feasable option but what about the 4v heads that are on the cobras, that has to help with power, or now am i just talking nickles and pennies. Also, just for research, where can you get fully forged internals for the GTs? I guess i am just trying to be the most efficient with my money, but i don't want juice thats something i'll work around

If you are doing the work yourself you can probably pick up a good amount of the parts there for a good price. RPMOutlet.com has some kits too. Although, like Zoo said, if you have the money twin turbos are the way to go.
