yeah the blocks are almost the same. youl have to have a few things drilled and tapped into the block becuase the 4v heads have a few other timing components than the 2v does. but yeah its possible to put the 4v heads on them!!!

It's not cost effective though, heads... intake... accessories... etc. Really the best way is to buy a Cobra engine and swap it.

the cobra blocks are cast iron too, so it would surely be wiser to just get a cobra engine

U simple need a top end swap. you can probable find one for about $1200-$3000 for the pre 03 cobras' top ends. I've actually seen a complete kit 98 cobra top end conversion on ebay for $1375 shipped.

That may be true finding them for that cheap, but the 96-98 cobra's used the "B" series heads which are basically thought of like the non-pi 2V heads,... the best thing they make for are paper weights. The justification would not be worth it to spend all that money on the B-head stuff and gain not enough over the non-pi/pi than to spend the little extra and buy the C-head stuff on the newer cobra's and gain alot

i undestand what your saying, but they still have more potential than the 2v. Either way.

^^ Yeah, I also wonder what he did. It is a VERY rare occasion when the aluminum block cracks.

and just for clarification....

96-98 cobras = teskid aluminum block
99-01 cobras = wep (or wap) aluminum block
03-04 cobras = cast iron

So if it's more cost effective to just buy a Cobra engine and drop it in, what exactly would a person need to do to make it actually run and work in a '02 gt, what other (mods) would need to be considered? Where can you even get a cobra engine from (03-04)?

Can you only get the Cobra engines used? Other than ebay where else. What about dropping it in, what else would it take.
