Discussing headers installed but still problems in the 99-04 Forum. Got my headers installed now and i keep blowing my header gasket? Anyone know whats ...

headers installed but still problems


Got my headers installed now and i keep blowing my header gasket? Anyone know whats causing this? thanks

invest in some copper ones, I got some from summit for around 60-70 ish, never had any problems there after.

i ordered percy header gaskets for mine. no problem yet, i havent had them on very long either.

Man thats gotta suck.......double check your torque on the heads. Let us know how it goes.

i bought percey's as well.... installed in may and no problems.... and they are reusable

how old are your gaskets if they are the paper type and if theyre not burned up you can pull them off soak them in water till they are wet but not sopping wet or separating then put them on tighten them down but dont crank down, like a turn to one and a half turns, to where it will seal after ran down then start the car let it warm up then turn it off let it cool tighten and repeat till the edges are completely dry


also tighten from inside out

didnt know if he got a set that came with those paper type or fucked his up taking off the manifolds or got burned out by leaking

those are the ones i bought from summit... the picture represented is not of the actual product but that link will fit your application. 45 bucks, not a bad investment. i'd also try some stg.8 locking header bolts. once you're done, you're done with that.

thanx ,i have changed my header gaskets 3 times and they wont seal maybe these will will do the trick

I reused my stock studs, nuts, and gaskets over a year ago. So far it been fine. I also bought the headers used for 75 lol.

use either the stock gaskets or a metal type only.

thanks for the help, i replaced the gaskets and now its running fine. I recommeded getting headers, i felt big increase. My friend has a 97 TA and we were dead even every race, now i beat him by 2+ car lengths with the long tubes

'97 is pre LS1. It almost doesn't count. LOL
+2 on the sound clip. What exhaust do you have?
