Hisssing ssssound........

My car has always had this hissing sound comming from somewhere, loudest heard under the passenger side dash area. It sounds like an air compressor leak, but gets louder the more the gas pedal is pushed in. Engine rpm does not effect it.

And also, are the manifold gaskets known to leak? I have an exhaust leak but cant find it. Checked the collectors and where the h-pipe bolts to the mufflers. I cant reach my hand by the manifold ports, so Im guessing thats where it comming

sounds like you have your self a wild aniconda up ther in that dash

Thats an exhaust leak, most likely on the manifold.

I have this exact issue. At about 2-2.5 rpms, just in between 2 and 2.5k though, under acceleration and deceleration [like say its in 3rd or 4th and its right at 2k and i give it gas... well the whole time i'm giving it gas no more than going over 2.5k though, whatever it is hisses and the when i let off the gas real quick, it has a higher pitched hiss then stops], almost sounds like a blowoff valve or sumthing. kinda like a hissing purging sound.
