I would run without them for a while and see.
I know alot of ppl with MIL's and still get the CEL.
I got the CEL a few times, but after I cleared it once, it never came back.
MIL's = Junk IMO

When you say clear it did you unhook the battery, or you took it to a shop or with a tuner?

anytime bro
Just save your money on the MIL's until you drive it a few months then decide what you wanta do. And btw, the cheap ass ones you see on ebay, they work just as good as the expensive ones do. They just arent as fancy. Bascially your just using a resitor and a capacitor to change the voltage readings from the O2 sensor out puts to the PCM. That way the PCM is tricked into thinking that the O2 sensor is reading properly.

Don't know how good that advise is, but if you buy a tuner you can just turn them off and not worry about the cel.

I think that may be influenced by your driving habits. I've heard of people going a good amount of time without the light, but never heard anyone just not ever having it turn on.

i got a code 2 times, cleared and never came back, wife drives the vert now, and still no code, so im not sure if driving habits have anything to do with it or not. Dont take this as advice, take it as my experience.

I guess the question is how often does your wife really get on it? Don't say never because I let my wife drive mine and she was addicted to the power in five minutes. LOL

Well I can say never, she just learned how to drive a 5 speed in this car. I cant even get her to get on it when I tell her to. Which makes no differance really because the O2 sensors dont change voltage when you get on the throttle.

But when you get on it the car certainly does release more exhaust gasses which will affect the 02 sensors.

Negative. The PCM is programmed to ignore the O2's at near WOT conditions or all out WOT. To make max power you need max air/fuel ,and the O2s would handicap you in a race .The system knows you are trying to go fast ,so it goes into open loop configuration so you can waste that LS1.

O2 sensor feedback is used after the engine is warmed up, at Idle, and at part throttle (cruise) conditions. Thats why it important to have properly working O2s .Cuz if your getting on and off the throttle ,the 02s need to switch on and off quickly.

The car has 44k on it and I've reset the battery numerous times. And it's definatly not the MIL's because they are on the rear o2's, not the fronts. My code is for the driver's side front o2 sensor. I'm going to switch out the front two o2's from side to side to see if the code changes to the passanger side. That would indicate a bad o2 sensor. If it's not the sensor and the side stays the same then it's somthing else. Is there anyone else that my know what the deal is because I have no clue. And I don't think it has anything to do w/ my gas cap either.....

Okay now the P0153 code is gone. Now it's the code P0155 which says the circuit has failed for the front driver side o2 sensor. Now does that mean it's bad? It's also throwing a P1000 which says the diagnostic testing failed to complete or something like that. WTF is this now???

P0155- Its not the sensor itself. There is a wire or connector plug problem causing no power to the heating element for just that side. Should be the pass/front side.

P1000 is not actually a trouble code. It just means that the Readiness code has not been set yet or in other words, the engine computer hasn't completed testing certain emission control components. If there is no other problems with the car emission system, the code P1000 will disappear after driving for some time (the drive circle must include idling, stop and go traffic, acceleration and steady cruising). But until you get rid of that P0155 it probably not gonna complete.

Ha tell my wife that ! lol.

I appreciate the compliment though.

Not a tech ,but I read a lot and have asked a lot of questions in the past myself. I know enough to keep me outta trouble and to do my own work etc. Sometimes when I know the answer to something ,but dont know the best way to explain it,Ill look it up and try and piece it together so the person asking can understand it if they are new to the car game.

Im a decent Sherlock with lots of seat time I guess you could say.
