Chips off of Ebay

I just bought me one of those chips off of Ebay that is suppose to give you more horsepower and torque and all that good stuff. My question is could I still use a diablo predator on my car with that chip in there or will I have to take it out?

I wouldn't touch those things. Unless it was from a real tuning company (i.e. Diablo, SCT, etc.). That could be a computer chip from Best Buy that some is selling on Ebay. Just send it back and take the money and put it towards a Diablo. you know exactly what you are getting and what it is capable of.

Can these chips actually do more harm than good to your car?

I have never used or known anyone who has bought one. So I don't trust it. You really don't know what the thing is tuned for and what it does. Just buy the handheld tuner. You will be much happier and you can do alot more things with it like pull codes, turn sensors on/off, and actually TUNE your engine rather than having some weird chip put in.

please dont even bother to put that thing in your car, just go buy a handheld tuner and be done with it.

I would get a hand held tuner too, but I know superbeef1000 on here has one and loves it. I guess it all depends on your end HP goal. I got my DiabloSport used on ebay for like $210. Just make sure the person un-married it from the car.

I am looking at a tuner on Ebay right the guy is asking for 200 dollars but that is for bidding only alot more people are going to come and start bidding on it too, so I am just watching it right now I have 4 days until the auction is closed. Do you know of anyone who is selling a tuner?

I had one of those "Chips" in my car for about 15 minutes then I sent it back.

Made it hard to start it stalled and stuttered.

Can you give us a link to the chip you are looking at? All these chips are not the same. You maybe looking at a cheap one, or maybe not. We need a link.

What that does is trick your IAT, and change the a/f mixture of your car, and yes it can hurt your engine. It pretty much tricks your engine into over compensating for the conditions it is actually enduring.

It provides maximum torque and horsepower gains of up to 12%. "

It could be OK.

Nah dude, that wasn't a good investment. Consider it a lesson learned. At least you didn't buy a superchips tuner. That would have been a much more expensive lesson.
