Anyone Tint their own windows?

I want to tint my windows but i would rather have the satisfaction of saying i did it. Has anyone done it themselves? i wanna know how hard it is.

The two side windows and the two rear quarters wouldn't be hard at all but the back one would. And since you gotta get the rear one done also why not just have a pro do the whole thing. I just got all 5 windows tinted at 20% for $130.00 and it looks awesome.

If you have never done it dont try it. My buddy owns a tint shop and the back windows are a PITA and you can screw up the sides as well. For the price of it just have a pro do it

Its very hard, setting each piece involves a pattern of wetting, drying, spraying and carefully laying the tint...I thought it looked easy until I tried it, wound up with more bubbles than a glass of soda.

eassyyyyy.. piece of cake, just spray soapy water on the window, lay the tint, move it around and push out all the bubbles and cut it to fit and let it dry. so easy a caveman could do it

All you need is a scraper .. a bottle of water mixed with johnsons baby shampoo and some patience .. the hardest part is getting a good edge on the tint .. you need a sharp blade and a steady hand .. its really not hard to tint .. but not everyone is cut out for it .. should only be 120 - 125 to get someone to do it . and is def. worth it IMO .. i tinited my 1st few cars then said screw it .. haha ..

+1... Most places carry a lifetime guarantee on their tint as well

Most places will guarantee their tint as long as its 35% which is legal tint. Otherwise its the shops preference it they want to warranty it.

ive been tinting for a few years and will tell you that if you dont know how, dont do it. it isnt hard to tint, it is hard to be good at it. the side windows can give you a fit, but heat shrinking the backglass is where the experience will come in. the dot matrix will have to be prepped correctly to make it stick. what tint you going to lay? the good stuff cost pretty good amount of $$$.

it's definately not as easy as it looks. side windows are not that hard but the back glass you would want to take it to a pro. honestly it's not going to save you that much money by doing the sides yourself so I would just take it somewhere.

Where in the hell do you live that it's so cheap? Before I had my clutch issue, I was calling tint places in the area and the cheapest was $189+ tax. I would love to pay $125.

Is that for 2 front, to rear quarter, and back window? I got a price quote for me, excluding the fronts. 140

I do my own tinting, the only thing you need for the rear is a heat gun and use good film, not that autozone crap...
