I only use k&n for my oil filters.
K&N Performance Gold (Part #HP2010) - $13.48 FRAM (Part #DG2) - Double Guard - $21.99 FRAM (Part #XG2)- X2 Extended Guard - $16.99 FRAM (Part #HM2) - High Mileage w/TRT - $7.99 FRAM (Part #TG2)- Tough Guard $6.18 FRAM (Part #PH2)- Extra Gurad $3.77 Mobile One Filter (Part #M1210) - $9.88 Purolator (Part #L24651) - $3.24 Purolator Pure One (Part #PL24651) - $5.88 Motorcraft Filter (Part #FL820S) - $3.88 Bosch Premium Filter (Part #3410_ - $5.99 ACDelco Filter (Part #PF1250) - $3.97 There are a few others out there, STP, Pentuis, and Pennzoil that all fall under the four dollar range. For just the daily driver any of these will be an ok application. It just comes down to personal choice. I just like the k&n filters because of the 1" nut welded to the top for easy installation and removal. They also claim to use a thicker canister wall then others and a higher flow rate and to be honest my cars seem to run better, probably just in my head! ![]() FRAM drives me crazy with all the different flavors they have but they still make a decent filter. They just seem to make it too hard. Sorry for the long post and I went ahead and added the part numbers if anyone needs them. Also these prices came directly off of Advance Auto's website. AutoZone seem to be just a tad cheaper.

Make sure whatever oil filter you use that it is equipped with the relief valve. This prevents oil drain back from the filter when your car sits. The relif valve gives you instant oil pressure at start up. Some of you cheap filters do not have this. I use Motorcraft and Mobil 1 every 3500 miles.

That is absolutely a false statement. Not all oil filters have pressure relief valves for one. Two, there are different filter medias out there depending on the type of useage your engine is going to have. Cut a standard frame filter in half and then cut a Ford Racing filter in half. Then note the differences.

if im correct filters like k&N and mobil 1 tend to capture smaller particles than your standard filter or they tend to let more oil flow freely without capturing many of the miniature particle
its either one of those but they all work great. ANYwho mobile 1 supersyn with lucas oil stabilizer and a mobil 1 filter and off you go! oh and my opinion on royal purple is that its a waste of money on a DD
