NX 2v Plate Kit

So I'm looking at getting an NX 2v Plate Kit and running a 75 shot until I get a tune, and I was wondering, is it worth spending about an extra $70-$80 to step up to a 15 lb bottle or just stick with the 10 lb bottle. Also, why is the 12 lb bottle like, $500-$600 more then the 10 lb bottle???

Here is link showing the average price of the setups with different size bottles:

i have yet to go through an entire bottle when running at the track with my 10lb bottle.

as for the 12lb bottle, it made of some kind of composite material thus costing more than the regular metal bottle

Do you think it's $500 worth of light weight material. I mean, the regular bottle can't possibly weigh that much more then the composite. Or at least not $500 dollars worth, can it???

the bottles aren't really that heavy man.

I would just get the regular one.

why wouldnt you just get it tuned to be safe. i know its a small shot but still i would spend the extra money to have it tuned. beats rebuilding a motor

i would stick to the 10lb bottles be cause it get tought to get your pressure at half full, plus you will have to call to get the jetting for a 75 shot.

See that's what I was thinking, is that what makes the 'composite' so 'special'??? It's "light weight"??? Do you think it's worth it for the 15 lb (extra $70-$80) or stick with the 10 lb.

i think it depends on how much you plan on using it. if you're gonna be using it a lot you might want to go with a 15lb, and if theres not a filling station anywhere nearby i'd go with a 15

Well I might be using it a decent amount but not all the time. I think I will probably go nitrous happy when I first get it because it will be so much fun, but I will eventually get used to it and lose the rush and slow my usage down. At that point I will do what just about every other mustanger says not too long after adding performance parts to their car... "I STILL NEED MORE POWER".

I am moving to Denver, CO in about 6 weeks, so in a city of nearly 3 million, there better be a filling station close by.

personal preference on bottles, i run a 15lb bottle in mine. if i were to run a 10 i would invest into a maximizer kit (2nd bottle). it helps reduce pressue drop off, and last loner between fills. i also use a lot of nitrous, and that is another reason i bought my own filling station. these cars can take 100 without a tune as long as you use 93+ octane. is is still a better idea to tune for it. the 12lb bottle is composite, the 10lb bottles are around 14lbs empty, 15 lb bottles are around 18.5 pounds empty.

Sooo, where I live there is only 91 octane available. Is it still safe to run a 100 shot w/o a tune on 91 octane???

Also, is pressure drop off dangerous, or does it just reduce the amount of power you will produce?

racing at the track the pressure drop off isnt bad. it is the long hyway races is when drop off is an issue, it will cause a rich condition. i ran 100 untuned, i know people that run 100 untuned, i dont recommend doing it, but it is your car.

1 more question... I plan on getting an SCT xcal soon too, and on american muscles website they say they can tune for a 100 shot. Is that going to make it a lot safer then running w/o a tune, or just a little???

any time you tune for specfic needs for the car, it will always make it safer and get more power out of it.

ive found i get about 5 full passes and thats it on a 10lb bottle topped off on a 100 shot, anything after that, it just isnt there and breaks up badly. i wish i could find another bottle, or ould have gotten a bigger bottle. i am still trying to find a bottle so i can run dual bottles and get a lot more out of it
