Keyless entry

I have a 00GT with the stock keyless entry system. What do the stock systems offer? I know they are not very high tech but do they include ingnition disablers or are they really just for locking and unlocking the doors?

your key has a chip in it that allows the car to start. as for the keyfob, it's for nothing special.

Don't forget that fancy little light that flashes "THEFT" whe you pull the key out of the ignition! That's gotta be worth somethin'

Thesecars do have engine kill systems. That's why you have to have your keys programed to start the car. You do not want to go out and get a key cut then just stick it in the egnition and turn it. You'll be charged out the ass by Ford to reset the theft locking thingy.

they're not alarms, just anti-theft systems. only there to make it harder to steal the car.

If any door that was locked by the system is opened without a key, then the horn will honk desperately, but usually that doesn't scare anyone or call any one's attention.

They all do have that feature. Once the system is armed (locked) if any door is opened without disarming the system (unlock) it will sound the horn the same way the panic does. In reality, a window can be broken and if they open the door without unlocking it, it will honk, honk.... or if they pull the lock from the outside... You know...

There are ways to disable the system, but I won't post them here in public... Can't trust everybody... :wink

However, nothing will beat an Alpine system with perimeter sensor.... Or a good Viper System.... Personally I prefer Alpine. It has many options that can be activated cheaper than most others, like window roll up/down, sunroof activation (not needed for us) and sound system link...

You know I forgot about that. I left something in the center consol and went to get it. I just reached in to unlock the door and the horn went off.

Don't you have to push the lock button twice for that to work? If you only push it once all it does is lock the doors.

I don't know. I always push it twice until it honks, just to be sure it's locked.

I think the honk means the anti-theft is activated.
