VT Stage 3 Heads

When I go onto VT's website and look their heads, the stage 3 heads say "not recommended for stock bore". What would be the reason for this??? Also if it says I would need to bore my engine, would a stroker kit suffice, or would I need to bore it???

i would assume you would have to bore because of the amount of air they flow. a stroker kit wouldnt help with that.

you can either big bore it out, stroke it which has .030 bore or just bore it .030 to a 283.

Why wouldn't stroking help with air flow??? Wouldn't it draw in more air because of the larger displacement regardless of how you get the larger displacement???

Sorry misspoke. My head was somewhere else. Stroking increases piston speed which increases ring wear so for a DD might not be your best choice. If your main goal is going to be track duty stroking is good because of the torque advantage.

Busher, you dont want stage 3 heads for ur daily driver. And when a modular motor is bored, the airflow changes drastically! I would say stick with stock stroke, and VT Stage1-2 heads. Or go with a big bore 3.700 inch big bore and then teh stage 3s. Also first you need to come down to denver sometime!

Dude, I'm movin' to Denver in about 6 weeks, give or take a little!!! I've got a new good paying job, so I'll start modding real soon. I'm planning on 4.10's, Xcal2, SLP longtubes, O/R prochamber, & SLP LM2 for this fall/winter. I think I'm gonna purchase them all in one shot so I can have my tuner tuned for my mods. You wanna help me w/the install??? I'm also havin' another buddy on these forums help, his names Gunny. He hangs out in the 05+ forums.

I drove his mustang a while back... OMG!!! FFFAAASSSTTT!!! And it was also having trouble back then too, the placed he got it tuned at pretty much fucked him a good one...

stage 3 is definitely too high for a DD probably even for a stock block.

Race him anyway. That way you can say you beat him, and you were even sick that day. It'll give you more bragging rights.
