rear end?

Ok im wanting to get 4:10s and right now i have drag radials..so i got some good grip but i dont want to get gears with sticky tires and bust my rear end? Would getting posi help even out the power and maybe keep the rear end from twisting which i assume is what mostly busts the stock rear ends??
Or do i need more to be safe?

You should be fine bro, but it wouldn't hurt to upgrade, and buy a 31 Spline.

If you are running DRs and launching from high RPMs you should upgrade the rear. A 31 spline TracLoc Posi, axles and driveshaft along with torque boxes should make it strong enough for your needs. Stock rears don't do so well with high RPM launches with sticky tires.

Your 01 GT has an 8.8 T Lok differential, which will be strong enough until you start adding some more serious power.

Any differential can break sometimes. I destroyed the 8 3/4 in my 70 Cuda once, which is a fairly strong dif. But generally speaking, until you start adding more power, the 8.8" T Lok is pretty strong.

If you have the coin, though, and can afford the better axles, there is certainly nothing wrong with the added protection of the 31 splines. But remember, when you strengthen one area, another area becomes the weak link, such as the torque boxes you mentioned.

All depends how much power he's running. MMmm power. I just like saying it. Power. lol

its not the hp that breaks them, its the shock. 200hp on a 29 spline with a 5000rpm clutch dump is going to break something if it hooks

She could, but then you chance having her further ruin your car by breaking something else.
