Fuel Injectors (noob questions)

I was talking to one of my friends today and he said a good upgrade for my car would be fuel injectors.

I have a bunch of questions:
What exactly do they do? Just pump more gas in, so your car in running rich?
How much am i looking at spending on them?
What kinds are there, which one do i want (30lb?) and where can i get them?
How much MPG can i expect to lose?
How much is reasonable for an install?

First off, whats done to your car as far as mods go?? Because unless you got more than the basic bolt-ons, then you won't need to upgrade your injectors yet. Fuel injectors are there to feed your car the proper amount of fuel it needs, so it can run properly.

That was a question i forgot to post.. so i need other mods before i can put on better injectors? My car is stock.. I'll probably get a CAI soon.. so getting injectors would be useless then?

If you are still N/A then you don't need injectors. It's not until you ad a power adder or nitrous that you'll need those. Maybe with a really aggressive cam.

I thought injectors are only upgraded for when you need bigger ones due to Supercharger or something.
They don't add horsepower or anything, right?

Correct. Although they can be bought if you get Head & Cam work done. And they don't add any HP. They just feed larger amounts of fuel where needed, and unless Supercharged, Turboed, or any other major engine works been done, then they don't need to be upgraded.

they dont add power, they support power. stock 19lb injectors are good for 320-330 rwhp. after that you will need to invest into a set. the car will need to be tuned for them. they wont use any more gas under normal load, and nothing will change as far as how the motor runs as long as the cars is tuned. if running a wet shot of nitrous, injectors will not be affected at all as long as the correct jets are installed. if you go with a dry shot, then an injector change might be needed.

UDP's = under drive pulleys. these will replace your water pump, alternator, and crankshaft pulleys. they do basically what they say, "under drive" your accessories. they will help to reduce parasitic drag off your engine that robs power. pulleys are good for maybe 4 horses and 1-2 miles per gallon increase.

rear control arms are what connect your rear axle to the frame. upgraded ones help get traction to the ground.

Plenum and TB (throttle body) are your basic upper intake. a bigger throttle body will let more air in and a better plenum will flow air more freely into the engine. i believe an aftermarket tb/plenum combo gains around 15 horsepower.

A proper tune will help your engine. Who told you a tune is bad for your engine?? I never heard that before, so i'm just curious.

One of my friends at school.. i think he is very mislead in many aspects of cars because he has told me things before that i found out were not what he thought they were.

Thanks a ton man. How much would most of those things run me and how much for installs?

You should be able to install all of those parts yourself, and if you need help, grab a friend or ask us if you get stumped.

Just DO NOT buy from RPMOutlet.com. They seem to be major rip off artists.
