because every company has different cams...
one companies stage 3 isn't going to be the same as another companies stage 3

a high lift cam, if i'm not mistaken gives the owner the ability to force or get more air into the chamber, including fuel under the same time restraints (the duration). a change induration gives the owner the ability to have a longer period of time to do this. however, one must take into account the lobe separation angle when putting in cams. for example a LSA of 113 will allow more air flow to pass through the intake and out the exhaust than a cam with a LSA of 120.
Moreover, i believe that if you go with too much of a duration and too much of a LSA that it makes it harder for the engine to idle. Btw 2000StangGT is right in the aspect that every company have different ways the grade or rate their cam, and what they think is best for a blown, nitrous equipped, or NA engine. The same would go for Tire Gradings. Please correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure this is right, i usually do my research before building or buying anything. |

easiest way for a quick break down is duration= when and how long the power comes on. lift is for how hard the power comes on. lsa is what makes the lopiness, and creates idle issues.
