245 DR vs 285 street tires?

I have 17x8 bullits on my car already and am thinking about getting 18x10s for the back. Since ill have extra wheels I was thinking about getting some drag radials for them when I go to the track. My questions is will it be worth it, will the DR get better traction on the smaller rim than the 285 street tires. Also can I use a DR wider than 245 on a 8in rim?

The DR's even though smaller will give you more traction then the street tires

on your stock bullitt rim you can fit a 275.... i had them on mine

you might can go wider, but im not positive....

and you are strictly using the DR's for the track... Go Micket Thompson E/T streets... 275/40/17

Going wider then 275 on an 8" rim is a bad idea

I was thinking about doing this with my OE 17x8" Bullitt's. Pull the Goodyear skaterbacks off and give them away and put some 275 wide drag slicks out back. I will probably leave the oe tires up front though.

I was looking some stuff up and the Nitto 555Rs are appealing. Drag radials for a lil more than regular tires and I read they get about 15000k miles with normal driving which doesnt seem too bad, one set a year we would work for me.
