The wider the rear tires the harder it is to turn at higher speeds.

I wasnt referring to width, I was thinking bout gettin a set for my 17x8s. I was wondering how well the sidewall supports the car in a turn. I know performance tires have a stiffer sidewall to help with handling thats why i was asking. Im gonna use them as daily tires and am wondering if Id be better off wit a street tires are DR with the same compound. Nitto has a drag and track set. I dunno if id rather loose a lil grip off the line wit the track tires or in the corners wit the drags. Does anyone know how MUCH the softer sidewall helps?

Unless you're gonna be road racing and taking insanely high speed turns a 275 35 or 40 DR on those 17x8's will be great .. and just get a normal harder compound performance radial up front .. I run Nexen tires up front they are a cheap long lasting performance tire with a great pattern on them ... but you won't have any problems in daily driving with a 275 40 in the rear in a DR as long as you have the tire pressure set normal and not at the track pressure ....
