gear grinding

ive noticed lately that at random times my car will grind into any given gear...today it was grinding into 4th no matter what id do and sometimes the same happens with 5th, i have an early 01 GT and if im not mistaken its a T45...if anybody has any ideas what that might be let me know...it also feels like its hard to get into gear sometimes too and just makes all kinds of knocking sounds and shit...ive never driven another mustang before so idk if thats just how these cars are or what

and you have either the t-45 or the t-3650 depending on when your car was built in 2001

Yea I believe you have the T-45 if it's an early 01. And I agree with the other guys, your synchros are probably shot.

if its not the synchros it could be a bent shift fork, since its very unlikely that ALL of your synchros went bad..

he said any given gear though.. the tri ax is definately a stiff shifter, that could be what it is. is it actually grinding or just kinda popping into gear hard? cause that is a stiff tranny and a stiff shifter

ur right.....my bad.

my friend had issues with his tri ax for the first 3 months of having it. Nothing Grinding, just had to give it a little more oomf in his shifts. My other friend took the car for a spin and even had trouble power shifting with it.

also, what kind of condidtion is ur clutch in?

Maybe you could record the grinding sound for us somehow, that way we can better determine the problem.
