forged internals
ok so i did the search thing and it didnt return what i wanted. So, right now i just got exhaust and now am looking to forge my motor so it will withstand just about anything that i throw at it. Can you guys please tell me all of the parts that i need to buy to have "all forged internals"?

do a forged crank, h-beam pistons, and forged pistons and call it a day. that will handle most anything you throw at it. the better the part, the more it will handle.

Isn't the crank forged on the 01? Meaning all that he would need is pistons and rods. I have found some interesting deals on pistons and rods of the forged type.

I was under the impression he has a cobra...

The GT's don't have any forged parts, and the 96-01 cobra's don't have anyfoged parts either. (to the best of my knowledge)

I just called a local performance shop and they said to do forged internals on a mach 1 would cost me $10k in parts/labor, dang that's expensive.

Labor is a killer when it comes to engine work. If you have another car you can use while yours is being upgraded I would suggest buying a book and doing it yourself. You'll save thousands.

Doing that kinda work on my own? How long would that take, weeks? Yikes, I can't even imagine that prospect.
Do most shops that you guys know of take parts that you've bought and install them for you? I know that alot of places here won't do that...I'd rather use the block that came with the car, but if it doesn't really make a difference...then i could just buy the already forged block and have that installed right?

damn 10k!!!! you could buy a short block with forged internals already in it for half that and be doing way better from the get go.
of buy a new block and rotating assembly and put it together your self and be doing better than 10k that guy is trying to retire off of you! |

Ya I know. I called DSS racing and they'd take the block from the car, and redo it for $4.

so a forged block would be a nickel block right? Just making it a little stronger than a regular block?
