Bolt Ons

I was wondering what other bolt ons i could get for my 99GT. I already have Cold Air Intake, Intake Plenum, and Throttle Body. I have a set of underdrive pulleys coming in the mail, along with Cat back exhaust from ford racing. I was thinking about a tuner, but Im not sure which one to go with. Also I am going to be ordering a set of 4.10 gears from ford racing. I need some suggestions on headers, mid pipe, tuner, and anything else. Also I was thinking of different heads and cams. How much and how hard would it be to put on new heads and cams. And does anyone know of a good shop in Southwest Florida that does good performance work on Mustangs. My friend has a 96 Camaro Z28 and he is having his secretly worked on so that I dont know about it. So I am trying to do a bunch of things to my car.

sounds like youve got a good list of mods there! for the headers, i would suggest, kooks but they are pretty expensive, but jba and bbk make good stuff! if you decided to change the heads i would suggest either VT or SHM. i run VT stage 2 on my car, and for cams either comp or VT. i run stage 2 Comp cams. i wouldnt go with the stage 3 heads and cams ause with your sotck shortblock, because you wont be able to use the high end rpms that the stage 3 will give. youd need to rev to atleast 7000 for them to do you any good. and they are harder to tune. they sound badass but the drivabilkty in a street car just isnt there. the low end rpms withthose are pretty rough. stick with srtage 2 and youll be more than happy. and i dont know of any shops around there but there are some people on here from florida that im sure could help ya out! anyways have a good one!

EDIT: as for the tuner, go with SCT x-cal2. they seem to have the best software and the most user freindly, but i would also suggest that after you do all these mod, to get a custom tune from someone who uses a dyno and can custmise the a/f ratio and all the other parameters that will change when you do the heads and cams

Also look into a set of upper and lower control arms, subframe connectors, and a set of drag radials...they help alot as well...

Which heads should I get?

VT Stage 2 Ported PI Heads - Customer Supplied Cores $1695

VT Stage 2 Ported PI Heads - Romeo (Outright) $1995

VT Stage 2 Ported PI Heads - Windsor (Outright) $1995

With these heads?

VT Stage 2 N/A Cams $535

What else will I have to buy and install to make these work, and what will be my next steps after getting these installed?

vt stage 2 ported heads(windsor, most 99's have the windsor block. you can tell by looking on the driver's side of the engine and you will find a bar code type sticker that will say romeo of windsor) with the n/a stage 2 cams. white99stang has the same setup and loves it. if you get the heads and cams, they will come already put together. all you would have to do is put them in. the only thing you are going to need is new head bolts, head gaskets, and possible new valve cover gaskets. after that is all done, next steup would long tube headers. then get the tuner!!

How hard is it to put new heads and cams on? Would I be able to do it myself and save a bunch of money?

I am going to buy the VT Stage 2 N/A Cams, VT Stage 2 Ported PI Heads - Windsor (Outright), FRPP 8.8" Ring and Pinion Set - 4.10:1. I wanted to buy it all at the same time and have it installed like the next week, but I dont know if it will be compatable with my engines internals or not. I didn't know if I would have to buy more things to make it work. It says that the heads dont come with rockers or lifters and the cams have to be used with aftermarket valvesprings. So I need help on what all to buy so I can buy it all at the same time.

Thanx

Well now Im thinking bout supercharging my car also. So I see that VT makes a set of cams for blown applications, but it says to uses with non ported heads. So I was wondering if I should get the Stage 2 Blower cams and then get the supercharger, but then I was wondering which heads to get. Or if I even nedd to get heads anymore.

Alright, forget everything we've been talking about. I've decided not to do anything else to my motor. What I'm gonna do now is buy a motor for my car. I found a 2003 SVT Cobra motor w/ 30,000 miles on it. So thats what I'm gonna do.Is it a good idea or no? I was wondering which upgraded supercharger to get? Whipple or Kenne Bell? Also I was wondering if I should get new cams and heads for this engine. Will my trans hold up? It's the stock automatic in a 99 GT.
Thanx

If you are going with a 2003 Cobra motor (4.6L 4v DOHC) they came stock on that year and 04 with Eaton superchargers. The Eaton website has a few different options and will help you select the best supercharger for your model and application. It doesn'y have to be the stock brand but its a good place to start and then check out different companies and their specs.

i say ditch the roots blower and put a procharger f1-a on that terminator. 600+ hp like that! and the acceleration is mind boggling!!

I think there is more to it than just dropping the Cobra engine in though right? I would imagine you would also have to buy the computer and harness as well so everything will talk right. Plus, you might as well get the T-56 tranny too and save yourself a lot of trouble trying to get your drivetrain components to bolt up properly. That seems like an awful lot of money to spend, but it has been done before, so good luck with whatever you finally decide to do.
