Procharger belt rip
I was supposed to go in for a new tune from my tuner last friday, got on the dyno... belt slipped. CAme home and replaced the belt with the supplied 108 inch belt, its a bitch to get on def need three people for this, anyways car runs good way better than before, get it rebooked for wednesday on my way home from school today i noticed a slight sift type sound i stopped popped the hood and my belt has a small rip in it on the side furthest away from the engine block. Anyways im home right now and i think the cause is that my tensioner is pretty maxed out and when i looked down the belt looks liek it is rubbing on metal under the tensioner. Just wondering if anyone knows about grinding down the tensioner if this stops this from happening? I got a new 108 belt again and i cant find anything on google or what not about fixing this issue anyone had the same problem?? damn procharger wish id just save up for a hellion turbo kit.

sometimes the tensioner can go bad, or there is a misalignmentwith the procharger idler pulley

What do you mean by go bad? the pulley alignment looks good. BUt the tensioner doesnt have any visible flaws to it that i can see.

hhaha the panty dropper!! I'm going to just take everythign apart up front and see if i can tell exactly where the belt is rubbing, from what i can see now though is that it looks like its rubbing along the bottom of the tensioner, like the pivot point or fulcrum haha not sure what that part is called but yeah the belt is def. up against it.

Do you have the supplied Procharger spacer that goes between the timing cover & the bracket installed? That is critical for the correct pulley alignment. Second, is the supplied bolt stopper adjuster stud with the jam nut adjusted up against the bracket? If it is not, it will cause the bracket to flex under load, thus creating a belt alignment issue as well. This is especially true if you are heavy footed wanting to experience that sexual feeling with all that irresistable power at the tip of your toes on a more than regular basis. And finally, if your belt tensioner has more than 15,000 miles on it, you should replace it. They become weak and won't hold the belt tight. In fact, the Procharger instruction manuel states to replace the tensioner with a new unit when installing the blower. Additionally, the tensioner should be replaced every 10 to 15 thousand miles ther after. The Procharger is a good quality unit, but you have to pay attention to the details if you want it to last & operate as designed. Certainly better than sex when operating as it should.... Hope this helps.

I had something similar happen to me on my 01 with a P1SC. Check the procharger idler pulley (the one that goes between the bracket and the alternator. The bearings gradually failed on mine causing the belt to create a ridge on the pulley (pulley should be smooth) and this ridge would eventually rip the belt up. It took me 3-4 belt deaths before I finally figured it out. Ordered a new pulley from procharger and so far it's been fine.

my tensioner locked up on me at about the 1000' mark when i was making a pass. i only found bits and pieces of it under the hood after i got back to the pits. needless to say it was the end of the night for me.
but yeah i've heard of that happening alot with S/C SN-95s.
