94 Firebird wants to race

Didn't get any luck over in the race section. So I decided to ask herre..

Okay I have a buddy that I work with and he's got a 94 Firebird with a 5.7 in it. He keeps sayin that he wants to race me and I told him that I'd race him. Do you think I have a chance against him? I have a 2002 Ford Mustang GT Vert with a cheap CAI on it. So what's my chances?

depending on the driver, not very good.. i raced a stock one when i had mufflers and intake and he pulled slightly,.and i drive my car quite well

and you have a convertable so yours is a lil heavier than mine

I would say its a drivers race, I beat a couple when I was stock.
1994 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 5.7 14.2
1994 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Conv. 6.2 14.5
+1 on what hunt said though i didnt think about it being convertible.

i think he'll win..than again i've heard that the lt1's are a driver's race with the gt's...good thing its not a ls1 or you'll be raped

come on guys... give the gts some slack... mines just bolt on and i run with an ls1. i have beat a late 90 z28 quite a few times and he has exhaust and he can drive. haha... i outran a z06 vette from redlight to redlight "nittos were the only thing keeping me from being slaughtered" ha

well... the guy couldnt drive either... and it was a short redlight. like in the city.. so i just jumped out really hard on him. it wasnt the ls7. he around 450 hp or so... but i launched at 4500 and all it did was chirp the tires so... its possible trust me.. i have seen another gt outrun him from the same redlight. it was a fox body gt but still runnin low 13s to high twelves

be pretty close race if your stick.. my friend has a 93 ta wit a 6 speed lt1 and i beat pretty bad on rolls and digs. hes a good driver to

I still dobut it, because 450Hp is 190Hp more, and those cars do 3.7-3.9 0-60, while we do 5.6-5.8. So he probably wasn't even racing you, you just thought he was.

i have already been in this arguement before... i know what happened and i know the situation. we didnt race the 1/4 mile.. i hooked, he spun, i can drive, he cant. thats all there is to it. i know that his car would eat mine up in the 1/4 mile, im also pretty sure that he was pulling me like hell close to the other end of that red light. i wasnt saying that my car was faster. i was just saying that i outran him from a short redlight. most vettes cut a 1.7 60ft time at the track. well... put that on the street and that easily becomes a 2.0 whereas i hook on the street just as well as the track. so my 1.8x sixty foot already gives me the jump.

Mid to high, but thats with a pro driver behind the wheel. And the 1/4 mile times for the ZO6 is high 11's to low 12's.

k. then his car is only about a second away from me. cuz my car runs high 12's to low 13's. my car is not stock there bubba..

Mid to high, but thats with a pro driver behind the wheel. And the 1/4 mile times for the ZO6 is high 11's to low 12's.

a pro driver can make a mustang run a 13.6.

but for everyone else low 14 is respectable, mid is average, high 14's-low 15's is beginner.
