Whats the difference?


While looking on the VT engines website, I started looking at the 2v GT long block. What is the difference between forged and billet? Is it worth the extra $800?

I see alot of people checked it out but no replys....

The only difference i can think of is the connecting rods. The forged rods are good to 700Hp, the billet rods have been used to 1500Hp. So you can see why the big price different.

Anyone else have different opinions chime in.

unless it's an all out race motor that will see very high rpm or a LOT of boost, you'll be fine w/ the forged versions. Billet rods are overkill for most engines

Good to know. It's going to be a daily driver and will only see the track with friends. Nothing serious here just fun and bragging rights.

ok, then you will be all set with a forged motor. No need for billet. Unless of course you just had money you didnt need.
