Replacing Shifter Boot

Ok, for reasons unknown the leather boot on my shifter has a hole in it. I was told by a Ford dealership that I can't buy just the leather boot alone and I had to buy the whole piece like this:

But I found this at another site and I was wondering if that would be able to be installed in the current bezel.

youd have to custom mount it somehow. the stock ones are basically plastic pins that are melted over the holes around the shifter boot, so if you can either find one without a boot on it, doubt the auto one will work, or find one with the cobra boot already on it. they're tricky to replace yourself.

So, in short, I should spend the extra $30 and save myself some time and effort and get the one with the bezel....

I don't think it'd be as tricky as he's making it sound. You don't have to have the pin, just go to the auto parts store and use that liquid weld adhesive stuff. That stuff seals quite well and it's permanent.
